*LUMPS... anywhere
Everybody knows finding a lump on your breasts or testicles is a reason to head to your doctor. Don't ignore unusual lumps elsewhere on your body though - on limbs, in the armpit, groin or throat, for example. They might just be an easily treatable infection, but it's always best to get them checked by your GP.*Persistent coughLingering coughs and hoarseness can be normal if you're run down, or suffer allergies, for instance. But if your cough doesn't clear up after three weeks, best get things checked. Might just be an infection or inflammation, but it could be a symptom of lung cancer too.*Unexplained weight lossIf you've been exercising more, watching what you eat or even if you're under a lot of stress, losing weight is normal. But if you're suddenly shrinking for no apparent reason, it's a good idea to tell your doctor, just in case.*Difficulty peeingFrequent peeing is usually associated with being a warning sign of possible illness. While that's important, finding it difficult to pass urine can sometimes be a symptom of cancer too. For most men, it's probably due to a harmless growth or enlargement, but speak to your doctor so they can check for prostate cancer if necessary.*Unusual night sweatsLots of things cause night sweats - hormonal changes, menopause, infections, and even the time of year and temperature of your bedroom. But unexplained persistent night sweats should ideally be checked out by your doctor as they may be a symptom of cancer.*Slow healing soresAs a general guide, minor wounds, like sores and ulcers, should clear up within a week. If they don't, there could be a number of explanations - infections or nutritional deficiencies, for example.
