Roads around Vic parliament reopened

ROADS around Victoria's Parliament House have been reopened after a police check declared the area safe.

AN abandoned backpack had been found earlier on Monday in a nearby park. For security reasons streets around the parliament were locked down while police did a check.

A police spokeswoman said the backpack had been deemed safe and there were no suspicious circumstances.Roads around the area have been reopened to traffic.
